Intel Apollo Lake

The chipset maker Intel  has announced a new SoC for low cost PC devices and Tablets known as Apollo Lake which is also the successor of Cherryview platform company announced about this chipset at the IDF in Shenzhen last week the new low-cost chipset is based on 14 nm technology and it features a new x86 microarchitecture named Goldmont which provides improved CPU performance as well as new graphics core.

The new SoC will allow devices to be thinner, to have more RAM, and storage within a budget price and it will support Dual-Channel DDR4, DDR3L and LPDDR3/4RAM along with SATA drives, PCle x4 drives and eMMC 5.0 types of storage.Intel also said that it will use USB Type-C and Wireless technologies with Apollo lake powered devices and it is expected that the company will launch this device in the second half of 2016.
